Gerz German Figural Beer Stein / Pitcher ~ German ceramic pitcher made by Gerz measuring approximately 9.25" tall and 5.5" wide across the middle. The German text on his belly is "Reiner Wein und gutes Bier Sind des Wirtes fchonfte Zier". The rough translation of this is "Pure wine and good beer are the proprietor's prettiest ornament".
He is in excellent overall condition, with the exception of a thin vertical stress fracture going straight up from the base rim for approximately 1" through the peach colored area to the gold horizontal band. It is not easily noticed unless you inspect it closely (see the 3rd photo).
The Gerz mark on the bottom is a circle with Gerz inside, as well as a triangle inside the lower bottom of the circle. There is also the word "Handarbeit" with a number 6, which means "hand crafted". The pitcher is also entirely hand painted. It is my understanding that this is a contemporary mark made in the 20th century, but I have no idea of exact age. A really interesting full figural toby jug style pitcher!

Blue & White German Round Animal Stein by Reinhold Merkelbach ~ Beautiful 0.5 Liter ceramic stein with a blue high gloss finish, adorned with a white painted raised design of a turkey type bird on the left, a large antlered animal (elk, deer, antelope?) in the center), and a rabbit standing on his hind legs on the right side.
The bottom is marked with an RM inside a G, the mark of Reinhold Merkelback and Grenzhausen between 1945 and 1964. There is also the number 3501, which I assume is the model or mold number. The last mark is a capital E impressed on the bottom.
I have not found any damage, repairs, chip or cracks. There is some missing blue paint on the bottom rim below the center animal with antlers. It can be seen if you look closely in the first photo. This would be considered a manufacturing flaw, and not damage, as it is under glaze.
A wonderful item for the wild animal figurine or German stein collector!

Large 11" German Beer Sten ~ Ein Frohes Herz ~ Wonderful German made ceramic beer stein featuring 2 men smoking pipes, and a lady working on crochet at an outdoor table, with a dog at their feet. Around the base the stein reads "Ein Frohes Herz Heilt Allen Schmerz" -- the rough translation of this is "A happy heart heals all pain." The pewter lidded stein is 11" tall, is marked 0.5 L (Liters) on the top side. The bottom has the marks "Made in Germany" a letter W and a number 2, then a number B201. Exact maker and age are not known. Other than some light crazing (mostly in the shiny peach colored section at the top and bottom), we did not find any flaws.

1950's Vintage German Pewter Lidded Stein w/ Boar, Deer & Bird ~ Fantastic 1/2 Liter round ceramic stein measuring approximately 5" tall and 3.25" in diameter across the top opening. The figures are a pheasant or wild turkey type bird on the left, a male and female deer in the center, and a boars head on the right. The stein base is a deep blue with a high gloss glaze. The colors are amazing!
The bottom is marked by the manufacturer, but we have not been able to identify them. The mark is a capital A over G, with WW underneath. There are also numbers 20 (inscribed twice) and the number 7250, with the O being larger than the other numbers. We acquired a similar stein from the same estate that bears an RM in G mark of Reinhold Merkelbach from 1945 thru 1964, so we are assuming this stein is of the same vintage, and possibly the same maker or region of Germany.
In excellent condition with no chips or cracks found. There is a small spot the size of a fingernail tip near the birds right wing. I can't tell if this is part of the design, or possibly a rub to the glazed finish. There are also a couple of very minor surface scratches. Please e-mail us if you would like additional pictures of the stein or a photo of the marks on the bottom.
