1938 Errol Flynn Robin Hood Prop ~ Large Metal Knight's Shield ~ HOT Movie Collectible! ~ Large 44" tall heavy metal shield with leather hand straps on the back used as a prop in the ORIGINAL Robin Hood movie by Warner Bros in 1938 starring Errol Flynn. This shield most closely corresponds to Sir Guy of Gisbourne's coat of arms. Similar shields were used to adorn the walls of the castle and the exterior of the bandstand for the hanging scene, and during the archery contest. We acquired this piece from Profiles in History in June 1999... a respected auction house in Beverly Hills that specializes in Hollywood memorabilia. We can provide a photocopy of the shield from the auction catalog detailing it's history. The shield was stored in a backlot prop house for many years and needs to be handled carefully to prevent further paint loss. |
